The replica of the 16th century Spanish galleon, now renamed the the San Pelayo , has been invited by the Savannah Waterfront Association to visit Savannah again this year and open her decks to visitors.
After taking part on the 450th anniversary of St. Augustine as the replica of the Galeon San Pelayo, founder of the first city in the USA, the ship will sail north and up the Savannah River to open her decks and the exhibition that she holds to the citizens and visitors of the city. These ships were the primary merchant vessels around the world for 300 years, and manned by brave sailors, adventurers and merchants they were able to connect the continents creating the first global trading routes in history. They were an essential tool for the colonization of the New World and what maintained the economy of the Spanish Empire.
This 170ft long, 500 tones vessel that will make you travel back in time will be docked at Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, across from 115 East River Street and will be open for visitors from September 23rd to October 4th with the following opening hours:
September 23rd - October 1st from 10am to 6pm; the ship will be featured on Savannah's 32nd Annual Oktoberfest from October 2nd to October 4th when it will be open from 10am to 10pm
Ticket prices are: $10 Adults; $5 Children (5-12 years old); Free under 5 years old. Tickets can be purchased at the pier and through www.elgaleonshop.org.

It will be a wiener dog racing, bratwurst eating, Oompah dancing filled weekend as the Savannah Waterfront Association celebrates its 32nd Annual Oktoberfest! Come down to Historic River Street to join the German festivities all weekend long from October 2-4.
The celebration will kick off with an opening ceremony and official cask tapping on Friday at 5pm on the Rousakis Plaza arbor stage. Make sure to grab a seat in the beer garden offering a variety of German beverages and sing along with the Rhinelander's Oompah Band! Local entertainment will take place each night featuring Hitman Blues Band Friday night at 9pm and Thomas Claxton & the Myth Saturday at 7pm.
There will be plenty of activities to participate in throughout the weekend including a stein race, keg roll race and stein hoisting competitions. The annual sausage eating contest presented by Roger Wood Foods and Ambos Seafood will also take place on Saturday at 1 pm. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner and registration will take place the day of. This year the Tall Ship El Galeon San Pelayo will be docked on River Street and open for public tours throughout the festival weekend. Last but not least, a Savannah Oktoberfest is not complete without the famous Wiener Dog Races hosted by the Savannah Morning News! These adorable races will take place on Saturday at 10am on the East end of River Street in Morrell Park. Oktoberfest will kick off on Friday, October 2 from 4-10pm with First Friday Fireworks presented by Wet Willie's at 9:30pm. The fun continues on Saturday, October 3 from 10am-10pm and Sunday, October 4 from 10am-5pm. Regional artisans will be set up along Rousakis Plaza displaying a variety of handmade works for festival goers to browse through.

Tybee Island Pirate Fest is your ultimate destination for Columbus Day weekend entertainment. Held in Forsyth Park, one of Savannah's largest and most charming public areas, on the 4th Sunday of each October from 11 am until 3 pm, the festival draws about 10,000 attendees annually. Participants of all ages will enjoy a taste of ethnic Jewish cuisine as well as family entertainment including music and dance.
There is no admission charge for the festival. Food purchases are by tickets, which are sold in advance (and at a discount) at the temple office, and at the event (at full price). Gift items can be purchased by cash and by credit or debit card.

Ditch the candy and Trick-or-Treat for drink specials on River Street at the 3rd Annual CRAWL-O-WEEN! This Halloween pub crawl will feature select bars & restaurants on River Street. Crawl along the cobblestones at your own pace while enjoying drink specials along the way.
Tickets are $10 per person and includes a souvenir cup.
Check-in and day of registration begin at 7pm at the SWA Staff Tent on the Rousakis Plaza Arbor Stage (across from Tubby's on River Street). Crawling hours are 7pm-midnight. Participants who complete their crawl card before midnight will be eligible for the raffle drawing.
