The annual orchid show of the local Deep South Orchid Society has moved to a new home at CGBG's Andrews Visitor Center. This year's orchid displays will highlight the city of Savannah. Held in the Great Hall, view specimen orchids plants and blooms that have been jury-judged for awards using American Orchid Society (AOS) standards. Browse vendors with orchid-growing supplies or art featuring orchids. This colorful springtime event runs over a three-day period.

The EVP Beach Volleyball Tour primary aim is to support beach volleyball events that engage fans, athletes, students, communities and sponsors in a great day at the beach. At each event, spectators will not only see elite athletes compete on the sand for top honors, they also have the chance to interact with the pros by participating in contests and promotions at hosting venues. EVP Tour events channel local resources and draw all participants together, benefiting the entire community.

Savannah Parrot Head Club, in conjunction with Bar Crawl Savannah, presents our Lost Shakers of Salt 10th Annual Scavenger Hunt which promises to be an exciting and fun twist on an already great event. Join us on Saturday, May 7th! Registration will be at B&D Burgers Congress Street from 11-12pm. The scavenger hunt is from 12-4pm and the awards after party will be held at Savannah Smiles at 4pm and will feature entertainment, food and drink specials, prizes and more. Compete as individuals or as teams (2-10 players per team). Tickets are $25 per person and if you register on or before April 30th to be guaranteed an event t-shirt.

Held at the Visitor Center, activities and programs include safe solar gazing, displays on astronomy, astronomical equipment and apps, astronomical art and more. This event is free and open to the public. Return later that evening for our springtime 'Gazing in the Garden' event, too!

In partnership with the Oglethorpe Astronomical Association, enjoy the out-of-doors night with "space fun" and stargazing. It's our second stargazing evening of 2016 and is a fantastic ending to Astronomy Day!

After the mid-May sun sets at 8:16 pm and the sky darkens, the first-quarter moon becomes more visible and doesn't set until around midnight. Join us on the Event Field for viewing of the waxing crescent moon, constellations and Milky Way Galaxy through various-size telescopes that Association members (or you) bring. The evening wraps up at 10 pm.

Dress for the evening weather, bring a favorite cold or hot beverage, lawn chair/blanket and snack basket (alcohol is prohibited). Be aware that fire ants may be under your blanket or chair on your particular chosen spot on the Event Field.
