Brunch is the best meal of the day in the south, and Savannah is no exception. Whether you’re looking for classic southern comfort food, or a modern twist on your old favorites, there’s no shortage of charming and delicious choices to suit every taste.  Check out our eight favorite places to satisfy your cravings and enjoy the southern hospitality that’s made Savannah famous!

    B. Matthew’s Eatery | 325 E Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401

An upscale bistro at a reasonable price point, B. Matthew’s offers a wide variety of weekend brunch options, including sandwiches and salads in addition to their classic breakfast fare. For some real southern flavor, try the shrimp and grits with Tasso ham and red-eye gravy.

Soho South Café | 12 W Liberty St, Savannah, GA 31401

If you’re looking for atmosphere, you’ve come to the right place! With its high, industrial ceilings, farmhouse-chic décor, a grand piano, and a gorgeous bar, Soho South is one of the prettiest restaurants in Savannah. We highly recommend the Classic Soho Combo which includes an amazing grilled cheese sandwich with pimento aioli, paired with a cup of fresh tomato basil bisque. Add fried green tomatoes and thick cut bacon for a heartier meal, and don’t forget to try the delicious rustic fries!

Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room | 107 W Jones St, Savannah, GA 31401

Perhaps the most famous restaurant in all of Savannah, Mrs. Wilkes is homestyle cooking at its best! Just ask President Obama, who stopped by in 2010 for some fried chicken, baked beans, and ambrosia. Tourists and locals alike line up outside before the doors open at 11 AM, and strangers sit together at tables for 10 to enjoy family-style meals that change daily. Typical menu items include southern favorites like cornbread dressing, okra gumbo, collard greens, and sweet potato soufflé.

Gryphon Tea Room | 337 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401

Run by Savannah College of Art and Design, and housed in an antique pharmacy, Gryphon Tea Room is elegant and charming. Surrounded by stained glass, mahogany bookshelves, and velvet arm chairs, you can treat yourself to sweet crepes with sautéed apples filled with whipped cream and mascarpone, topped with caramel sauce. Don’t forget a pot of earl grey tea, and scones with Devonshire cream and jam to top off this exquisite brunch.

    Clary’s Café | 404 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31401

Made famous by the novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Clary’s offers classic diner fare in a casual atmosphere, serving breakfast all day. Try the homemade corned beef hash, old-fashioned malted milkshakes, and the jumbo custard-filled éclair that’s big enough for two!

The Funky Brunch Café | 304 E Broughton St, Savannah, GA 31401

Open seven days a week from 8 – 3, the Funky Brunch is not your average restaurant experience! With griddles built into the tables, you can customize your batter, choose unique toppings, and serve up your own pancakes without leaving your seat! If you’re not in the mood to cook, you can also order a variety of breakfast food from the kitchen. We recommend The Hangover – a heaping portion of hash browns, bacon, cheese, fried eggs, and sausage gravy, served with toast or a pancake.

The Collins Quarter | 151 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401

This Australian-owned restaurant is styled after Melbourne’s historic Collins Street. Modern and cool, with an emphasis on their specialty coffee, The Collins Quarter draws brunch crowds every weekend for their fresh, sophisticated menu.  Try the fancy avocado toast with feta, heirloom tomatoes, and shaved radishes, or the pitch-perfect eggs benedict with house-made hollandaise.

    Narobia’s Grits & Gravy | 2019 Habersham St, Savannah, GA 31401

If you care to venture slightly off the beaten path, you won’t be disappointed! Located a few minutes south of Forsyth Park, Narobia’s is an old-fashioned, family-run diner, serving soul food and southern breakfasts. Try the fried chicken biscuits, crab stew, and French toast that lives up to their claim: “so good it don’t need syrup!”
