    The Telfair Museums consists of three museums: the contemporary Jepson Center for the Arts, the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters, and the historic Telfair Academy.

    The modern Jepson Center for the Arts, opened in 2006, features a contemporary collection of paintings, photos, and various exhibits. The artwork on display can feature can range from classic European artists to new artists invoking original styles. The Jepson Center for the Arts is located on Telfair Square, and is just a short seven-minute walk from the Hilton Garden Inn.

    The Telfair Academy first opened in 1886 as the first public art museum in the South. It houses 19th- and 20th-century American and European art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. Like the Jepson Center for the Arts, the Telfair Academy is also located on Telfair Square.

    Considered one of the best examples of English Regency architecture in the country, the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters was built in 1819 and gives you the chance to learn about the people – both free and enslaved – who lived on the site. You’ll find decorative arts, interactive exhibits, and more. The Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters is just three squares away from the Jepson Center for the Arts and the Telfair Academy.

    Established in 1966 and located in the historic Scarborough House, Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum features 18th and 19th century ship models, paintings, and antiques that are primarily from the era of Atlantic trade and travel between America and England. Ships of the Sea is just a four-minute walk away from the hotel.
