We started 2018 with a goal of adding more fruits and veggies to our diet. In a city known for savory shrimp and grits, fluffy buttermilk biscuits, and some of the south’s best BBQ, we went out in search of something a little lighter.

At the end of 2017, Fox & Fig opened their doors. It’s the 4th location from the owner of Foxy Loxy Café, The Coffee Fox, and Henny Penny. Fox & Fig goes beyond the traditional coffee cafe model used by their sister locations.

Fox & Fig sits on the northwest corner of Troupe Square. The space is brightly lit and has a happy vibe. They have café style seating and a full wait staff, but there is also a walk up counter for quick coffee and pastry orders.

The menu features a colorful array of brunch-centric dishes, as well as the brand’s signature coffees (powered by Savannah local roaster, PERC) and an interesting wine list. Because Fox & Fig is plant based, you won’t find any meat, dairy, eggs, or butter in their tasty treats. But trust us, you would never know.

Their eggless quiche is made with organic tofu, and it’s deliciously light and fluffy. The Tostadas Verde includes farm fresh veggies, seasoned to perfection, and piled high on toasted Country White Loaf that comes straight out of Savannah-favorite, Auspicious Baking Co. They even put their own spin on the vegan classic, the veggie burger. Theirs is served on a pretzel bun with grille pear, caramelized onions, and an agave Dijon. For dessert, sip on a one of their Milky Shakes which feature Leopold’s (yes, that one!) Coconut Ice Cream. Forget traditional vanilla, Milky Shakes blended with unique flavors like Spiced Lavender Mocha and Matcha Macadamia Malt.

If you’re already a fan of plant-based foods, or you just want to see what bacon made from Shiitake mushrooms tastes like, Fox & Fig is a must visit in downtown Savannah.

Find them at 321 Habersham Street.
