WAGFEST is the region’s largest celebration of canine-human friendship! The weekend-long festival includes canine sports and activities, food, shopping, raffles, contests, and presentations by pet experts.

Bring your best friends and family – dogs and humans alike – for a weekend of fun! WAGFEST will feature a disc dog competition as well as FastCat, rally, obedience, agility, scent work, conformation, pointing, retrieving, tricks, game training demonstrations, and fun runs.

WAGFEST kicks off with one of Savannah’s pawsitively unique races: The Fast and Furriest 5 K-9 Race! The racecourse will start and finish at Guy Minick Park/Youth Complex and wrap around the picturesque Lake Mayer. We will have a pup-arazzi on the course to capture all of the fun. The race time is 8:00 a.m., but this is not your typical race. Your four-legged friend will be timed, not the handler. All dog participants and their handlers will receive a finisher’s medal. Race packets include a bandana for your pup and a technical shirt for you! Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division, but the fun doesn’t end there. We will have post-race refreshments and massages for the dog participants and their handlers.

Don’t have a dog? No worries! You can borrow a running buddy from one of our local rescues who will pair you with an appropriate running buddy. The Fast and Furriest 5 K-9 Race is fun for the entire family! Children 9 years of age or older can participate while accompanied by a parent or guardian and in control of their furry running buddy.

All proceeds raised at WAGFEST will go to the purchase of the AKC REUNITE (AKC Pet Disaster Relief Unit) for Chatham County Animal Services. This mobile trailer is equipped with supplies for Chatham County Animal Services to become better prepared to care for pets when disaster strikes our community. These units provide co-location for the pets and service animals of people evaluating emergency situations. Each trailer contains many of the materials necessary to set up an emergency shelter for fifty or more pets and service animals.
