As winter begins to fade and the azaleas and dogwood flowers start blossoming, Savannah transforms into its springtime self. This is one of the most popular times to visit Savannah, and for good reason. Not only does the city come to life with bright colors and favorable temperatures, but there are several exciting events around town to entertain visiting travelers. We’ve put together a list of some of the most popular spring events for you to consider as you plan your trip.

Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens — March 22-25, 2018

Savannah is home to the largest urban landmark historic districts in The United States, with many beautiful old homes and hidden gardens all located within 2.5 square miles of the city’s center. Unfortunately, many of these remarkable homes and gardens are privately owned and closed to public viewing. But each spring, these estates open for tours to the public, providing the rare opportunity for you to witness the old-world architecture and spectacular hidden gardens in full bloom. For four days, a different historic neighborhood opens to the public. Tours are self-guided, so tour-goers are free to visit any of the designated homes within the neighborhood each of the four days of the event. Explore some of these rare homes for yourself to get an inside look at the city’s history.

    Southern Women’s Show Savannah — March 23-25, 2018

One of the largest annual events in Savannah, the Southern Women’s Show brings the latest in fashion, food, health and beauty and more to the center of Savannah. The perfect occasion for a weekend girls’ getaway, you’ll experience fashion shows, observe cooking demonstrations from top chefs and see featured celebrity guests. Bring your mom, best friend or sister to visit all the vendors and learn something new at the variety of exhibits.

    Savannah Music Festival – March 29-April 14, 2018

For 29 years, the Savannah Music Festival has brought eclectic musical acts from around the country and around the world to the heart of Savannah for two-plus weeks of music and more. With multiple venues throughout the city, you can jump from show to show and take in some of Savannah’s scenic streets and renowned food along the way. Music ranges from popular new acts to symphonies and international performers, with everything from jazz and blues to theatrical performances. Past performers include Jason Isbell, the Avett Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Bela Fleck, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers and more.

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival – April 28, 2018

Each spring as the flowers bloom, the sidewalks along Forsyth Park also make their annual transformation into a canvas of colorful chalk masterpieces created by the students and alumni from the Savannah College of Art and Design and high school students from around Savannah. Watch as some of Savannah’s best up-and-coming creatives and experienced artists compete in teams to show off their artistry and win prizes up to $1,500. Besides the pavement painting, actors and models also pose to create “living pictures” along the sidewalk. Bring the family to be inspired and relax in the park as you enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
