Description: Dirk and Amelia Powell are a father-daughter duo with deep Cajun roots in the bayous of Louisiana and Appalachian heritage from the mountains of Kentucky. Amelia is known for her hard-driving guitar and soulful vocals, while Dirk’s banjo, fiddle, and guitar playing have earned him a reputation as a “musician’s musician.” Dirk has been a frequent part of Transatlantic Sessions and toured with artists such as Joan Baez, Eric Clapton, Loretta Lynn, and Rhiannon Giddens. Together, Dirk and Amelia perform the music of their shared heritage and bring audiences the kind of soulful connection that comes from a family playing together with trust, humor, and love.
