How many squares are in Savannah?
Originally, Savannah had 24 squares however over the years we have lost 2 from urban development. Savannah currently has 22 beautiful squares in the city.
What essentials should I pack?
Bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes and a camera for seeing all the sights of the Historic District. We recommend packing sunscreen and an umbrella to be sure you’re covered for Savannah’s quick-changing weather. Don’t forget your swimsuit and flip-flops if you’re headed to the beach or pool!
What children’s activities are nearby?

Can I walk to River Street and City Market?
Downtown Savannah is extremely walkable. All of our preferred hotels in the Historic District are just steps from River Street. If you’d like to be as close as possible to all the shopping and restaurants that River Street offers, we recommend the Homewood Suites Savannah Historic District/ Riverfront as it’s located right on the river! For the closest access to City Market, we recommend the DoubleTree Savannah Historic District and the Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Historic District, both located just half a block away.
Where is SCAD?

The pedicabs are pedal-powered rickshaws that are free to ride, however generous tipping based on ride and duration is encouraged.
Is there a shuttle to and from the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport?
There isn’t an airport shuttle, however taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts are easy to find in the city.

What’s the best way to get around the city of Savanah? Do I need to rent a car?
Walking is a great way to see the Historic District, and the city is very pedestrian-friendly – no need to rent a car! However, if you prefer not to travel on foot, there are lots of options for getting around. We recommend taking a hop-on/hop-off trolley tour, with stops throughout downtown. How does parking work in Savannah?
Most hotels in Savannah charge a nightly fee for valet parking, especially downtown where space is limited. At all of our preferred hotels, the valet parking fee includes unlimited in and out privileges. Our preferred hotels also offer bus parking for an additional fee. There are city parking garages throughout the downtown area. (More info.) Street parking is metered and enforced as follows – North of Liberty Street: Mon-Sat 8am-8pm, South of Liberty Street: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm.
