Savannah is home to some of the best seafood in the southeast, arguably in the U.S. From hole-in-the-wall joints and gourmet restaurants to places you might easily miss and those that any local would know, these spots will make your stay even more memorable. Come and explore some of our favorites and stay for some amazing culinary experiences.

    Sorry Charlie’s Oyster Bar

In Savannah’s historic downtown, right next to beautiful Ellis Square, you’ll find arguably some of the best oysters in the city. The creative menu at Sorry Charlie’s Oyster Bar features plenty of great options. Sample their classic Rockefeller or mushroom asiago oysters. Try their creamy shrimp and grits or their delicious Savannah lump blue crab cakes. And you have to have the melt-in-your-mouth pimento cheese cornbread. Stay for a game in this comfortable atmosphere and enjoy some of their signature cocktails as well as local Georgia and South Carolina beers.

    Chart House

Chart House is a popular mainstay for coastal cities all over the U.S., offering regional menus and exceptional dining options. In Savannah, try the honey harissa king salmon, seared and glazed to perfection. Or, have their delicious coconut crunchy shrimp or swordfish asado with ancient grains and small heirloom tomatoes. Enjoy all this and more while you take in wonderful waterfront views, close to all of Savannah’s unique flavors.

    Chive Sea Bar & Lounge

On Broughton, just a few blocks from the Savannah River, is one of the most eccentric restaurants in the city. Chive Sea Bar & Lounge is an intriguing, 1920s-themed restaurant and bar with a menu that’s every bit as creative as its space. Try their generously sized shrimp cocktails or the Chilean sea bass (with a crab cake on top!), and of course, their legendary she-crab soup. You can also sample from an amazing list of vintage cocktails like the Cucumber Basil or the Bohemian.

    Sundae Café

During your stay in Savannah, you should venture out onto Tybee Island. While you’re there, absolutely try Sundae Café, a family-owned restaurant that originally opened as an ice cream deli (hence the name). They’ve added plenty of creative dishes like savory seafood cheesecake or sushi nachos. If you’re in the mood for something rich, move on to their lobster mac n’ cheese with smoked gouda, scallops and spinach. Delicious!

    A-J’s Dockside Restaurant

Surrounded by marshland and ocean views, this eclectic fish house is a classic seafood establishment, right on the docks of Tybee Island. Come try their great appetizers, like the conch fritters or buffalo shrimp, and then stay for dinner with their ahi tuna salad, blackened mahi-mahi or crispy-scored flounder with a sweet chili glaze. You can also rent kayaks and paddleboards while you’re there!
